Re-Act Fashion Show 2010

Is a project different from all the others that exist, unique not only in Europe, but in the whole world. It came into being in order to create exceptional pieces of art, which are made from recycled materials.

Apart from the artistic aspect of Re-Act, it additionally promotes the idea of social responsibility for the natural environment. The event propagates the work of young Polish and foreign artists who present the latest trends in the creative use of waste in fashion.

This year in Re-Competition there are 21 finalists competing for the main prize of the President of Lodz. During the finale gala in Teatr Wielki in Lodz jury including Joanna Paradecka, Monika Onoszko, Bartek Michalec, Maria Sadowska, Lidia Popiel, Małgorzata Bałdowska, Mateusz Stankiewicz, and Michał Zaczyński will choose the best designer and will award him with the very special prize: Re-Creator. The event hosted by Kinga Rusin will be honored by the show of the British designer Lu Flux, who creates innovative outfits from the recycled materials. “Crystal collection” which aims at preserving the crystal form of Mother Earth will be presented by Agnieszka Kawala-Surma, last year’s member of RE-ACT jury.

Re-Act is not only about the competition for the designers. It is also Re-Act Concept Store, a space where artists will be promoting their unique jewellery, clothes or furniture made from recycled materials.

Re-Act Concept Store

  • Re-Act Concept Store – an exhibition combined with the sales of jewellery and ecological accessories. Its aim is to present the artists of the ecological trend in designing. Such space will help to increase ecological awareness and social responsibility through the presentation of the creative use of the recycled materials.

  • Re-Act Praline – premiere of the ecological chocolate designed specially for Re-Act. The praline is made from ecological chocolate, with a seal of Fair Trade approval. Premiere will take place in the Re-Café in the Concept Store.

 

Aims:

1. Social and educational nature of the event (raising the ecological awarness and social reponsibility).

2. Re-Act Competition as a chance for debut on the fashion market for the young and talented deisgners and artists

3. Support and Strenght for Łódź City image which cares about the environment and promotes the process of reusage the recyclabe materials. What is more Łódź as a city which is attractive for tourists in fashion and art.

4. FashionPhilosophy Fashion Week in Poland which is a great advanatage for Łódź and one of the arguments for European Capital of Culture.

 


Re-Act Fashion Show 2009

During Re-Act, audience which counted around 800 people had a chance to have a look at the outfits for Spring/Summer 2010 designed by the head designer of LAC ET MEL, Gregor Clemens. LAC ET MEL is an ecological aware brand, this is why it perfectly matched the idea of Re-Act. In a second part of the show, the audience has seen the outfits of finalists for the best recycling collection. the Jury consisted from: Gregor Clemens, Alexandra Von Schledorn, Marek Straszewski, Agnieszka Kawala- Surma, Grzegorz Matląg, Małgorzata Bałdowska and Izabela Łapińska, emerged 20 final collections. Jury unanimously awarded 1st prize of President of Łódź City for the dresses' collection made of artificial flowers and VHS tape by Sylwia Rochala. 2nd prize founded by MPO received Jacek Kłosiński, student of 4th year of Łódź Academy of Fine Art. The collection has been sewed from yarn foil. The 3rd prize went to Katarzyna Konieczka for the collection made of orthopedic corset.

Re-Act Fashion Show Gala was narrated by engaged in ecology Izabella Miko - the ambassadress of the event. She was accompanied by Samuel Palmer -  promising star of Polish cinema and television.

What is more, the guests and arrived spectators could watch the world wide premiere of "Home" movie directed by Yann Arthus - Bertrand and Luc Besson. The projection of the film took place in Manufaktura Market.

Re-Act has been also presented during the IIIrd International Festival of Design in Łódź, where the guests and spectators could admire the wonderful final collections.
