RE-COMPETITION 2010Competition finale for the best recycled collection of Re-Act Fashion Show 2010! Out of 147 projects that were submitted to the 2nd edition of Re-Act Fashion show jury choose 21 final collections. Among the finalists there were designers form all over Poland, Germany, Romania, and Finland. The projects were presented during the finale gala on October 15, 2010 in Lodz, Poland.

2nd place and prize of REMONDIS: 5.000 PLN Natalya Goldbach for the collection "Metis"

From Sosnowiec. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń. Semifinalist of Fashion Designer Awards 2010, finalist of Gryf Fashion Show 2010. In his collection for RE-ACT he uses office materials and those used to preserve paper, as well as acryl crystals.
2. Monika Błażusia – Floral
A student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Faculty of Fabric and Clothing. She specializes in the design of clothes and printed fabrics. Her collection was made from different kinds of paper, and the main motive is the floral pattern cut-out in cardboard. Owing to the open-work construction the paper collection is light and subtle.
3. Paulina Bojór - The Circle of Life - WINNER
This year's graduate of the International School of Costiumography and Clothing Design. In February she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Clothing Design. Her projects were valued in the finales of various competitions suc as “Złota Nitka” 2010, “Habitus Baltija” 2010 (in Latvia). She is fascinated by futurism and abstract arts. In her collections the artist often uses complex construction.
4. Mihaela Carp - Update
A PhD student at Gheorghe Asachi University, Faculty of Clothing Design. Her projects are made from waste and fabrics inspired by the world of coral reefs.
5. Dagmara Cieślak – ECOnstruction
A student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Faculty of Fabrics and Clothing Design. She specializes in clothes and shoes design. The collection for RE-ACT was made from bicycle tubes. Graphic stripes matched with cut tubes gives an effect of romantic elegance. The project is completed by shoes and bags. The play with form and structure of the material shown how multifunctional it may be.
6. Agnieszka Dydo – Paper Cut
A graduate of the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Philosophy, and School of Artistic Clothing Design in Cracow. A finalist of "Złota Nitka" 2009. “Paper cut” collection consist of complex, multilayered compositions. Hand-dyed paper is combined with stiff felt, old paper string or sweater full of holes which become the material for the creation of unconventional, geometric space.
7. Glodbach Natalya - Métis
Natalya Goldbach has studied fashion design at the University of Arts in Berlin and graduated in 2009. After working as a freelance stylist in Munich and Berlin she has just recently moved to Paris and started working for Maison Martin Margiela. Her collection Métis is an interplay between many different materials, colours and structures, which complement and interfuse each other and so result in a new conclusion. The basic idea of her work was a module system, which she used to create her very own fabrics. These fabrics consist of little, cut out pieces of leather and fur that gear into each other and interlock. For Métis she has recycled leather and fur offcuts, which due to varying quantity and colours enabled her to achieve many unforeseeable and unexpected colour compositions. From this technique she developed three mosaic-kind seamless pieces of clothing, accompanied by jeans, silk and wool they become complete silhouettes. 8. Marta Gos – Fluid.i.ty
This year's graduate of MSKPU in Warsaw and a student of the English Philology at the University of Warsaw. In her projects the artist wishes to go beyond simple design of silhouettes. In future she wants to link fashion with different art forms. Her collection for RE-ACT are the projects of indeterminate organic forms made from diverse materials like paper, insulating tape, foil and CDs.
9. Pat Guzik – Red water
Graduate of the Pedagogical University, Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology and the School of Artistic Clothing Design. She obtained a diploma in clothing design and construction. Her collection consists of anoraks made from medical waste bags. The collection is made in the colors of red, beige and black. Projects are inspired by the “Bullet-proof umbrella” display by Roman Siegner exhibited in Hamburger Bahnhof museum.
10. Bogna Hamryszczak - Shadow
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Faculty of Graphics, and School of the Artistic Clothing Design. Winner of Scholarship Program of The Minister of Culture and National Heritage „Młoda Polska,” Creative Scholarship of Cracow and others. The outfits in her collection are made from plastic belts. These belts elaborately curved and combined create interesting openwork forms.
11. Jagoda Kawicka – Geometric
A student of 2nd year of clothing and jewelery design in School of Art and Design in Lodz. “Geometric” is based on geometrical forms of bags and clothes covers from ecological materials. Owing to the strong geometrical forms used particular body parts have been overdrawn. Additional effect is achieved through the use of silver sequins from aluminium cans. The whole collection is the combination of futurism with classic “little black dress.”
12. Żaneta Kleips – Spirit of Africa A student of th 4th year of Textiles Pattern-designing at Lodz Technical University. She makes her collection by herself from start to finish. She treats them as her own children who should not be entrusted to somebody else. In her collection she makes references to the African tribes living in harmony with nature. The combination of linen, felt and string with a glossy jewelery made it possible to achieve intriguing pattern effects. 13. Janne Kuitto – Koti A student of Industrial Design at the University of North Caralie in Finland. His collection is inspired by short and passing moments of everyday life. Materials that the artist uses, metals and fabrics, refer to the dualism of conscious and subconscious thoughts. A starting point for his designs was the freedom of artistic expression. 14. Karolina Konieczna – with fork without spoon
A student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. RE-ACT collection “with fork without spoon” is made from a recycled materials – plastic forks. Its assumption was a form which takes it value from the use of unconventional materials. The common element of the collection is circle and arrow that shape three separate silhouettes.
15. Jakub Pieczarkowski - Spider's web
A student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Faculty of Clothing and Shoes Design. Finalist of New-look Design 2009. Materials used in his collection are wire, Styrofoam balls and papier-mâché. The color used is white.
16. Monika Pieczonko – Dolls
A student of Lodz ASP, Faculty of Clothing Design. RE-ACT Collection of paper dresses is an outcome of the artists fascination with Asian art. The designer is inspired by the Japanese design and paper also while creating utilitarian collections.
17. Kamil Sobczyk – Rush
A student of ASP in Lodz. “For me, fashion is an experiment and fun, I like to give new sens to ordinary objects. I would like to use fashion as a languageto express my feelings and unconventional outlook on various subjects.” That is why in his collection for RE-ACT Fashion Show he uses different forms of paper.
18. Edyta Stajniak – Jasza
A graduate from Graphic Faculty and Faculty of Painting at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. A source of inspiration for “Jasza” collection is extravagant and extraordinary matter and simplicity of form. “Samochodowy Pas Bezpieczeństwa” in its modest, utilitarian form provokes creative quest, multiplicity of configurations. The strength of the costumes is expressed by its clarity and simplicity of solutions.
19. Katarzyna Staniszewska - Organic
25 years old. Last year she graduated from ASP in Łódź, Faculty of Fabrics and Design. Her latest collection won New Look Design Fashion Contest 2009. She also studied in England and had an internship at Vivienne Westwood's and Marios Schwab's. Her designs are inspired by the fashion of the past centuries. “Recycling is an important part of the contemporary world, that is why I decided to participate in the RE-COMPETITION. I wish to promote the idea which I entirely believe in.”
20. Sylwia Świeczkowska, Jarosław Ewert - ENTRE TINIEBLAS
ewrt&swieczkowska is a duet of patter-designing students who have worked together for over three years now. Up until now, they were awarded 2nd place during the V edition of the OFF Fashion competition. Their collection for RE-ACT was made from thermoplastic material.
